Secrets Reveled

By Mark J. DeGregorio, aka- Lucky

Beaker adjusted his glasses and replied, “Because the two of you are fraternal twin sisters.”

Both Nonie and Patricia’s jaws dropped.  They pointed at each other said in unison, “You mean I’m related to her!”

Beaker pulled out a mini toolkit from his pocket and began to repair his watch.  Without looking up, he replied, “Yes you are.”

Nonie cried, “But we can’t be sisters, we don’t look alike!”

“Yea, Nonie’s flat chested, and I’m not!” Patricia added.

“I am not FLAT Chested!   I have boobs!” Nonie protested.

Stephanie asked, “So, how is it that they’re sisters?”

Alan smiled and answered, “Well, when two people fall in love… A baby gets born…Ouch!”  Stephanie threw her fist up and hit her brother.

“Shut Up!” Stephanie said to Alan and then said to Beaker, “Well, we’re waiting for some answers.”

“James, I think you’d better start this off.” Beaker said to James.

James stood and took center stage for the telling of the epic tale…

* * * * * * *

A small transport was being pursued by a huge starship.  A notorious space pirate, Johnny Solow, had stolen a mind-inducing device.  The crew of the starship Terisian was sent to retrieve the device at all cost.  Captain James Wayland entered the bridge of the Terisian.  “Captain on bridge!”

All stood at attention as he approached the large viewing screen.  “What’s our status Mr. Gowrie?”

“We have Solow’s ship at thirty-six parcepts and closing.” He responded.

James turned to the Operations officer and ordered, “When we get within range, activate the tractor beam.”

On Solow’s ship, Johnny was having a hot cut of spictor (which was an alcoholic tea) when his bumbling first-mate came rushing into Johnny’s cabin.  “Johnny!  Captain Johnny!”  He cried out as he ran into Johnny, spilling his very hot tea all over him.  After a few moments of burning pain, Solow grabbed his stupid first-mate by his shirt and punched him in the jaw.  He fell to the floor rubbing his jaw as Solow yelled, “Joey you numb-skull!  What’s the big idea; spilling my hot drink all over me!”

“Gee Captain Johnny…” Johnny snarled at Joey as he corrected himself, “…Err…Captain Solow.  I didn’t mean to do that.”

Annoyed, Johnny asked, “Why did you come in here?  What was so important?”

Joey thought for a moment and then remembered why he came in, “An Amalgamation starship is on our tail.”

The blood seemed to drain from Solow’s face, “WHAT!”  And he rushed out of his cabin, running over Joey in the process.

Johnny entered the flight deck of his ship.  Jesmina was in the pilot’s seat, said to Johnny, “We’re being hailed.”

On the viewing monitor, a large man in an Amalgamation uniform appeared.  He looked human except for his greenish skin tone.  Looking at him he was defiantly a heavy worlder.  “Johnny Solow, this is Captain James Wayland of the Amalgamation, you are here-by order to surrender your ship.”

Johnny turned to Jesmina and shouted, “Get us out of here.”

Jesmina stretched her arm to the engineer’s station and started the engines.  Gordo and Juan Tun entered the flight deck, followed by Joey.  The chase went for a minute until their ship’s engines shut down.  The Terisian’s tractor beam activated, grabbed their ship and pulled them in.

The entire pirate crew had been rounded up from the captured ship.  Johnny Solow was in restrains as Gordo approached Captain Wayland with the device and handed it over to James. “Here is the stolen device, mission accomplished.”

James took the device and responded, “You did a great job as a spy for the Amalgamation.”

Johnny glared at Gordo and furiously said, “You!   You shut down the engines!”

James ordered security to take Solow and his crew to the brig.  He handed the mind-inducing device to Science Officer Beaker to be secured, and orders the Terisian to return home.

* * * * * * *

 “Let me guess, the device is the same one we retrieved for Solow.” Stephanie said.

Still working on his watch, Beaker replied, “Yes.  He knew of its mind controlling properties and had plan to use it to control the galaxy.”

“Can it still be used, you know, to control the galaxy?” Nonie asked.

Beaker looked up from his work and replied, “No.  That little escapade you three had, drained the device of all its power.”

James strolled across the room as he continued the story…

* * * * * * *

After Solow’s crew was in the brig, James’s wife approached him and asked, “Well, you got what you wanted…again.”

James let out a sigh and said, “Linda, what is this all about?  We had a mission; we completed it; we go home.”

Linda placed her arms at her hips and responded, “You know dam well what I meant!”  She threw her arms up and continued, “Everything for the Amalgamation!  You even had the nerve to use my brother as your spy!”

James was now angry; he shouted, “Look Linda!   Gordo volunteered for this mission!”

“After you pressure him into doing it!” Linda continued to argue.

James smiles in disbelief at Linda’s words and countered, “Nobody pressured him!  He did it because it was the right thing to do!”

“James!  You are so full of yourself!” and Linda stormed out of the room.

Later that day, Beaker was called to the brig.  When he arrived, Jesmina was complaining of nausea.  Beaker and two security guards escorted Jesmina to the medical bay.

He ran a series of tests and afterwards, he approached her and explained, “Jesmina, I don’t know how to tell you this, but this nausea you’ve been experiencing is do to the fact that you’re three months pregnant.”

Jesmina surprisingly blurted, “What?  How can that be?”  She thought for a moment and remembered one night of passion and said, “Oh god, not him.”

“Take this now, and one every morning…” he handed her a bottle of pills, “…when you start to feel nausea.”

Jesmina took a pill out of the bottle and placed it in her mouth.  She then drank some water, and was taken to a bed in the medical bay.

“Oh that is so sweet.  What ever happen to the baby?” Nonie asked.

Patricia glared at her newly discovered sister and snidely said, “We ARE the babies she had you dolt!”

“Will you two stop acting like a couple of teenagers and act your age?” Stephanie scolded.

“Funny you should mention that…” Becker smiled, “…because, although Nonie and Patricia are twenty-two Earth years, they are from a race which their year consists of sixteen and a haft months per year.”

Alan made a quick calculation and said, “That would make them about… fifteen years old!”

“Oh...” Stephanie sarcastically exclaimed, “…That explains everything.”

James continued the story…

It was not until later, that Linda planned to betray James and the Amalgamation by planning a mutiny.  She had some followers and she was going to pound in the last nail by releasing Solow and his pirate crew.  Linda arranged to have two of her followers be on guard duty at the brig.  Linda entered security and confronted her crewman, “Is everything set?”

“Just waiting your command.” He responded.

She approached Solow’s cell.  Johnny was sitting on a bunk pouting when he looked up and saw Linda standing at the doorway, “What do you want?” He asked.

“I want to know what you think of my husband?” Linda asked.

Johnny grinned and asked, “…And whom might that be?”

“Captain James Wayland of the Amalgamation.” She answered.

Johnny snarled and said, “That muscle-headed baboon!  You’re joking.”

Linda frowned and said, “I wish.” She held up a security card and continued, “What would you do if I let you and your crew out?”

Solow’s eyes were fixed on the card in her hand.  He knew if he said the right answer, he would be out.  He grinned and replied, “Probably take over this ship.”

Linda placed the card into the locking mechanism and the door slid open.  Johnny Solow exited his cell as Linda said, “Now here’s what we’re going to do…”

* * * * * * *

 James was sitting in his office when a holographic woman appeared and asked, “Is something troubling you Captain Wayland?”

James looked at the woman.  She was the ship’s A.I. and avatar.  She was a beautiful human woman with lavender hair, wearing a form-fitting outfit.  James let out a sigh and responded, “Terisian, you always know.”  He got up from his deck and walked across the room.  “I just had another fight with Linda.”

“What was it about this time?” she asked.

James looked at the translucent woman before him and said, “She’s mad that I sent Gordo on that mission.  I don’t know, maybe I shouldn’t have, but he did volunteered.”

Terisian smiled and said, “Well, he did completed the mission.  He didn’t receive any harmful effects.”

“Terisian,” James asked, “did I coaxed him into the mission?”

Terisian paused a moment, then said, “Trouble.” And phased out of sight.

James shouted, “Terisian!” and the ship went into battle mode.  James ran down the corridor as security teams rushed into position.  “Terisian!  What’s going on?”

Terisian appeared in front of James and reported, “Solow and his crew has escaped and a mutiny has accrued.”

James shook his head and said, “Could this day go any better?”

“Your wife, Linda, is leading the mutiny.” She replied.

“…And it just get better all the time.” James sarcastically replied.

* * * * * * *

Bilie Kamp, A small security officer, was running down a corridor.  He had only been aboard the Terisian for two weeks and he was still bright eyed and bushy tail, literally.  He sort of resembled a humanoid squirrel.  This was the first “real action” he has ever seen.

As he turned the corner, he saw that Solow’s crew was not the only escapees from the brig.  Bruno Watson, a Rhinoid, had also been released.  He was a humanoid rhinoceros standing eight and a half feet tall, seven hundred pounds of rhinoceros fury.  Rhinoids are the most aggressive race in the galaxy.

Bilie uttered, “S-s-s-stop where you are…please…or I’ll s-s-shoot.”

The Rhinoid stopped about two feet from Bilie Kamp and sarcastically replied, “Oh, I’m scared.   He’s going to shoot me…” and he raised both of his hands over his head and continued, “Not.”

Making his hands into fists, he slammed them down on top of Bilie, pounding him to the ground.  Bruno smiled, “It’s squirrel squashing time!”  And jumped down on him smashing him flat, “You just became ROAD-KILL!”

Johnny Solow and Linda following behind Bruno’s wake as Solow said, “Now that was a very good idea, setting the Rhinoid free.”

“He served his purpose.” Linda replied.

They came to a control panel.  “Is this it?” Solow asked.

Linda smiled and replied, “Yes, just do your thing.”

Johnny Solow held up a fist as it began to glow with a crackling sound.  When he threw his hand towards the panel, bolts of electricity blew the panel open.  He held his hand to his face and blew away the smoke from his hand.

Linda went to work on hotwiring the circuits.  In a few moments, a door opened, “Come on.” She indicated for Solow to follow.

“Didn’t you have a pass key?” Solow asked.

Linda responded, “I don’t have clearance for this system area.”

The two proceeded down a ladder and into a huge room.  It was the Terisian’s engine room.  Linda pointed to a panel by the warp core.  Solow walked to the panel and asked, “Where too?”

“Oh, I don’t know…Maybe the Sol system.  That a far away place from the Amalgamation.”

Johnny looked at Linda raising an eyebrow and said, “Kind of primitive.”

Linda smiled and said, “Yes.  Just right to rule.”

* * * * * * *

James ran into command to get the progress on the mutiny.  Terisian appeared on a viewing screen and said, “The mutineers have taken decks fourteen, sixteen, eighteen through twenty-two.”

A holographic image of Terisian appeared in front of the Terisian on the viewing screen and added, “Navigation is being rerouted to engineering.”

James sighed, “Terisian, do you have any Good news to tell me?”

“No.”

“No.”

“That’s just great!” James muttered.

“Captain!” Yarg called, “The ship is going into warp-stream!”

The ship entered a stream of rolling paths, shifting into many other paths.  Computers did not have the instinct to navigate the warp-stream.  The ship’s pilot had been locked out from his station and was trying to get back control.  The ship exited warp-stream and then re-entered for another jump.  After five jumps, the Terisian exited the warp-stream, and it found itself hurled towards a M-class planet.  The pilot, Yarg was trying to regain control of the ship cried, “Captain!  I can’t steer the ship!”

Deela added, “We’ve entered the Sol system, and we’re heading for the third planet in that system!”

Knowing they are going to crash, James called to his crew, “Attention All Hands!  The ship is on a collision coarse with a planet!  All hands evacuate to the escape pods and head for the planet’s surface!”

Moments later, escape pods launched en route to the planet, as the Terisian grew ever closer to the planet.  When most of the crew had left, James remained in the command trying to save his ship.  Beaker appeared on a viewing screen, “James!”

James turned to the screen and replied, “Beaker!  You were supposed to evacuate the ship!”

I was in the lab when the lock-down accrued.  Jesmina and myself are trapped here.”

“I’ll get you out!” James responded.

“Wait…” Beaker interrupted, “There isn’t time, but there is a way to save the ship form smashing into the planet.”

James’s face lighten as he asked, “There is!  How?”

Beaker explained, “En route power to the heat sensors and give off a heat blast before impact.”

James began to reroute power.  He could see the surface of the planet as it skimmed the surface.  James saw a mountain in front of the ship and activated the heat blast as the ship approached the mountain. The heat of the ship’s hull increased to seventeen thousand degrees.  As the Terisian approached, it melted a path into the mountain. Then, a power failure caused the Terisian to stop just before it completely escaped the mountain. The molten magma cooled, trapping the ship into it.  A small portion of the ship was exposed to the outside, which had a hatch.

James worked to restore power to the computer core and got Terisian back.  He ordered her to open the medical bay doors to release Beaker.  As the three was about to leave, James activated the Internal Defense Systems.

Johnny, Joey, and a few of his crew had watched as the ship landed. “When the coast is clear, we’ll retrieve the device.” Johnny said, and commenced to destroying the escape pod they had used.  Johnny’s hands began to glow and electrical bolts of lightning burst from his hands, destroying the pod.

* * * * * * *

“So that’s how the ship got stuck.” Nonie said and asked, “So, who all are aliens, besides you guys and Linda, and Johnny?”

“Well, there is Juan Tun…” Beaker said, “He can manipulate the gravity field around himself.”

James adds, “Johnny Solow can generate electrical energy, and Joey has a sensory ability to see, hear, and smell things in the distance.”

“Of coarse, you two have your mother’s elastic ability.” Beaker said.

Penny began to wonder and asked James, “Well, what do you really look like?”

James deactivates him watch and transformed into his green form.  Penny looked him over and said, “Um, not bad at all.  I can live with green.”

“At least he isn’t blue and fuzzy.” Stephanie teased.

Beaker was not amused, responded. “Haw-haw very funny, let’s all laugh at the scientist.”

Stephanie looked at Alan and asked, “Well there is something I wanted to know, oh dear brother.  How did you even get to that ship?  You didn’t have a helicopter, and no bus or car can get there.”

Alan went out to the car, and returned with the bag he always took with him and said, “With this…” and opened the bag.

Alan pulled out a crude looking thing that had, what looked like two rockets attached to a backpack.  He continued, “…A jetpack I constructed.”

“And how is it…you…can build a jetpack in the first place?” Stephanie inquired.

Beaker finished making the repairs to his watch, activated it and transform back into his human form, answered, “That data that was transferred into his brain, was from the technology from over two hundred and eighty-five worlds in over thirty-seven star systems, making him the top engineer in the known worlds.”

“See, I really am a “Super Genius” after all.” Alan grinned.

Stephanie glared at him and replied, “You’re more of a Super Dork!”

Nonie asked, “So, what happened to our mother, where is she?”

Beaker, taking over the story from James, continued, “After we abandon the Terisian, I took Jesmina with me and established the research lab to continue my work…”

* * * * * * *

Although, she was part of Solow’s crew, she turned out to be good.  She soon earned Beaker’s trust.  Jesmina turned out to be quite useful around the lab, reaching things for Beaker.  She even showed in interest in science.  Jesmina did an experiment or two of her own.

Every month, Beaker would check on the progress of the fetus.  About the fifth month, Beaker discovered two heartbeats and knew it would be twins.  Jesmina did not want to know anything about the baby; she wished to be surprised at delivery.  Beaker kept his findings to himself.

After seven months on Earth, Jesmina had become Beaker’s laboratory assistant. She had an experiment that she had been working on for months and would not tell Beaker what it was until it was finished.   He knew that when she was in her ninth month, she would have to rest.  Now that she had reached the fourth trimester of her pregnancy, she only had three months to go.  Beaker insisted that she spend some time off her feet.  Beaker began to enjoy playing surrogate father, and waited on Jesmina until her twelfth month of her pregnancy.

The day finally came when she was about to give birth.  Beaker rushed Jesmina into the examination room and placed her on a table.  Two hours and twenty minutes passed and the first baby was delivered.  Eight minutes later, the second was born.  Jesmina passed out from the delivery before she could find out that she had twin girls.  Beaker took the infants and placed them into a room that was prepared for them.  Then he took Jesmina to her room to rest.

* * * * * * *

Johnny, Joey, and two of his crew were preparing to get back onto the Terisian.  Johnny handed them a set of headset comlinks and gave them instructions on where the device was located.  He then created an energy field around him and his two crewmen and flew them up to the plateau. After Johnny dismissed the field, he sent them into the ship.  As they got halfway to the Medical bay, Terisian appeared and said, “You are unauthorized to be on this ship.”

Alarms went off with the ship objected, “INTRUDER ALERT... INTRUDER ALERT... INTRUDER ALERT...”

The two glanced at each in terror and turn to flee.  The ship shouted, “Activating Internal Defense Systems!”

Johnny could hear the commotion over the comlink as a barrage of lasers killed the two.  Johnny was even more pist-off with James as he shouted, “Dam-it!  I’ll have to think of another way to get it.”  And created an energy field to get down from the plateau.

* * * * * * *

“Wasn’t there a boulder blocking the entrance?” Stephanie asked.

“I don’t know…” James said, “maybe it fell and blocked it between the time of Johnny’s visit and your exploration.”

“Who was born first?  Me or Her” Nonie blurted, pointing at Patricia.

Stephanie glanced at Nonie and sighed, “I don’t see how that is important right now!”

Beaker leaned against the table and replied, “Patricia was first.”

“As expected.” Patricia gloated, “You’re always following behind me.”

James began to wonder asked, “Anyway, how did you three get on the ship with the Internal Defense System?  Did you shut it off?”

Alan shrugged his shoulders and said, “Beats me.  We didn’t even know about that when we went there.”

“Then who De-activated it?” James demanded.

Beaker continued…

* * * * * * *

It was shortly after the twins were born, that the lab had an intruder.  Beaker was out getting things for the newborns when a dark form entered the laboratory.  It was a shadow-like being with long pink hair and differently a woman.  She managed to slip through the security system and made her way to Jasmina’s room.  She stretched her body and snaked it around Jesmina’s body and squeezed her to death.  She then slipped out of the lab.  Beaker was shocked to see this on a security camera afterwards.  Beaker did what Jesmina’s wish, which she wanted to be cremated in the event of her death.  He was relived that the twins were left unharmed, but was afraid that they too, will be targeted.

As he entered their room, he saw the first-born stretched her arm and snatched the bottle from the other.  In turn, she stretched both her arms to retrieve her stolen bottle.  Beaker knew that if they were to remain safe, he would have to place them into a foster home.  Beaker created a serum to inhibit their elastic abilities so they would grow-up to be normal girls.  Because of their fighting, and it would be harder for this assassin to find them, Beaker would place them into two separate homes.

After the serum was completed, he injected them and took both of their bottles and placed them on a table across the room.  Both tried to get the bottles by stretching their arms, but could not stretch them anymore.  Beaker knew that it had worked.  He had also developed a serum to restore their elastic abilities, but was going to wait until they were mature enough.”

* * * * * * *

 “I’d say you miss calculated on the maturity level a bit.” Stephanie teased while she held up her hand extending her forefinger and thumb with a little space between them.

Nonie and Patricia both agreeing with each other, snapped, “Shut Up Stephanie!”

Beaker shook his head and continued, “Anyway, I placed both of you into families so you could be well off.”

“Well Off!” Nonie gripped, pointing a stretched finger at Patricia, “She’s the one who made out on the “well off” deal!”

“Because I’m better than you.” Patricia giggled before Nonie wrapped an elastic arm around her and slapped her.  She in turn, stretched her arm and grabbed Nonie by the hair, slamming her head to the floor.

James rushed to stop them before they break something in his house.  He grabbed both by the neck, with a chokehold, and pulled them apart.  “Stop this right now, or I’ll re-starch and press both of you again!   Understand!”

Both nodded and James let go of them.  Beaker finished the tale…

* * * * * * *

Years later, the assassin had not resurfaced.  The twins had graduated from high school and it was time to restore their powers.  All these years, he had kept tabs on them.  Beaker knew of Nonie’s lack of employment, and placed the ad for a test subject.  He then used his telepathy to get Nonie to take the job.

After she took the serum, Beaker placed her into a room and set up the Delta-Gamma energy emitter to activate the serum.  When that was set, he woke her and guided her telepathically through her subconscious to appear she did it by accident.

Sometime later, while they were at the spaceship, Beaker used his telepathy to make Kevin pass on the information to Patricia.  Then he set up everything for Patricia’s visit.  When she arrived, Beaker had basically “left the door open” and used telepathy to guide her through the process.

* * * * * * *

 “And that brings us up to date.” Beaker concluded.

“Wow, that sure blew my mind.” Nonie blurted.

Stephanie smiled and replied, “A genital breeze would do that.”

Beaker got up and said, “Alright, you now know everything.  I hope you will do the right thing and not let this information out.”  Everyone agreed, since nobody would believe him or her anyway.

James looked at his watch and said, “It’s getting late.  I think you guys need to go home.”  He turned to Beaker and asked, “Could you give Patricia a ride home.”

“Alright…” Beaker replied, and motioned for Patricia to follow, “come on.”

Patricia was glad to be going to her luxurious home.  All this alien stuff was more than she wanted to know.  To find out that she was adopted and related to the little freak, She could not wait to go home.  She and Beaker went out the door followed by Alan Stephanie and Nonie.

Epilogue:

Nonie chattered all the way home.  When they stopped at a red light, Stephanie tried to shut her up by reaching to the back seat to slap her.  Nonie saw Stephanie’s hand move toward her and started to stretch her neck back to avoid getting hit.  That was Nonie’s cue to shut up.

When they arrived to their apartment, the three got out and walked the flight of stairs to their apartment.  Nonie pulled out her keys out of her pocket and tried to get the key into the lock, gripped, “Hey!  I can’t get the key in.”

“Oh for crying out load…” Stephanie said as she took the keys from Nonie’s hand, “Let me do it.”

After a moment of trying, Stephanie said, “What is wrong with this lock?”

Alan noticed a piece of paper tacked to their door, answered, “Maybe this Notices of Eviction stuck to our door has something to do with it.”

Nonie and Stephanie’s heads popped up to see the paper and cried out in unison, “NOTICES OF EVICTION!”

The End!
